Working Compensation Cases

When workers’ compensation benefits are reviewed, medical documentation plays a critical role in determining eligibility for both treatment coverage and wage replacement. Insurers and judges look for clear statements from a physician that identify the recommended treatment or work restrictions and directly link them to a work-related injury or repetitive job duties.
For medical care to be approved, the doctor must explain that treatment is necessary due to a condition caused by the job. For lost wages, documentation must confirm that the worker has functional limitations—such as light-duty restrictions or time off work—and that these limitations stem from a work-related medical issue. Even when pre-existing conditions exist, benefits may still apply as long as the work injury is identified as a major contributing factor. Medical opinions must be based on probability rather than possibility, meaning the doctor must state that the injury was more likely than not caused by the job.
At Jamaica Medical Center, we provide comprehensive workers’ compensation care designed to support recovery and simplify the claims process. Our experienced Brooklyn-based providers offer injury evaluations, diagnostic services, physical and occupational therapy, rehabilitation, and medication management. We are committed to helping injured employees heal properly and return to work safely with expert, compassionate care.
